Frigidaire FSE446RHS2 dryer clunks

The dryer makes a loud clunk initially when starting and then when opening door to turn off dryer the drum stops rotating then for a brief second rotates again then stops. The dryer does make some racket doing operation but not as severe as when the dryer first starts and ends. I have replaced the typical parts, bearing unit, belt, and idler pulley thinking those could be the problems. Dryer also pretty level with gauge. Could the problem be the motor bearing or the blower wheel? Don't want to keep spending a ton of money. The drum glide looks fine by the way.

Is the blower wheel loose on the shaft

Posted

I am unsure, I didn't notice anything unusual when messing with the motor and blower wheel. I will have to check on that, it is at my workplace and won't be able to check on that until a few days later. Just hard to pinpoint if the sound is coming from the bottom front or back.

I was able to take the front panel off and check the blower wheel, the wheel (fan) does move forward and back. Looks like there is a nut holding it somewhat but turns freely and moves forward and back easily, is that my problem?

Could be. I would pull the drum out, connect the controls and door switches but leave door off to the side so I could see inside and pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

If you can spin the blower wheel, but the drum and belt don't move along with it, it is stripped on the motor shaft, or broken.
