Viking vgic3054bss range - hot countertops

Our slide-in range has begun causing the surrounding countertops to get hot when the oven is on

the stove top has a 'vent'-like grille along the back edge which has always gotten hot during oven use, but the hot counters are new

we recently had new countertops installed; the fit doesn't appear to be any different from before

help please?!

Are the countertops made of a different material than before? Different materials have different rates of heat conductivity...

Make sure the oven door is not being impeded by the cabinetry also...

Yes they are - quartz instead of ?soapstone

dont think the new cabinets obstruct the door

if it were just a simple matter of different countertop material, why would the heating be 'patchy'?

seems to me like it might be the hot oven/vent contacting counters differently, but I'm no expert!

If the counters are a different height relative to the vent now, I could see that, but if there isnt any heat that feels intense enough to damage the surrounding cabinetry or start a fire, I'd just wait and see...
