whirlpool range set at 350. Will start to heat then stops but control still says 350. This does not happen all the time and each time I am there it works great, could it be the bake spark ignitor?

Do you hear the "tap, tap, tap," of the emitter trying to fire the electrode when you expect it to be entering a heating cycle?

I always expose the bake electrode and watch the tip of it and its terminus for the spark, it can be grounded somewhere earlier in the circuit.

Older versions of these ALWAYS need a bit of re-soldering on the main control board... (emitter board tends to be more solid).

Sounds like the ignitor (glow bar) what ever you want to call it. Odds are anyway.

yes I hear the tap,tap,tap, but the burner lites.like I said this does not happen all the time and I cant catch it doing it.

Does the burner tube have the extra ignition orifices on the bake-tube? They were updated at one point... well get out a lasagna and let it cook until that puppy fails...!

Direct Spark Ignition it is. My bad. I had pulled a parts break down saw what I thought was round caged Carborundum igniters. My bad.

 I got it coming.

if the control thinks its 350 when its not, look at the oven sensor.

Ask the customer to put an oven thermometer inside and see what the temp gets to when you are not there.

had one today similar issue. been a prob for months.

Guess what, no ground at outlet.

And there were burn marks near where the spark wire connects to the ignitor, the screws were also loose on the burner going to the oven, we'll see what happens

These are definitely susceptible to grounding issues as well... very similar to surface burner re-igniters.
