I apologize for posting this again but I think my previous question may appear to be resolves so I wanted to make sure someone sees this.

My Maytag LDG4914AAE gas dryer won't start.  I reported that previously but I have more information now that may eliminate some of the responses I got.

When the start button is pressed, sometimes the machine won't start. It just makes an electrical buzzing sound. However, later on, I pressed the start button repeatedly and it finally started up.   That was the original problem.  It started the next few loads but I still took the machine apart to make sure lint wasn't clogging the fan causing too much friction. (The lint filter is fine but some fine lint had made it past it over the last couple years.)  There was lint in the fan but nothing serious and there was also lint in the ends of the motor and I cleaned it out.  The belt is fine and the rear rollers are good too.  The idler pulley works freely but I did notice that the bracket that it's on is loose and thought maybe it is designed that way on purpose to allow the pulley to align with the belt if it shifts a bit.  Unfortunately, I forgot to check the front bearing pads while it was apart and the machine does make a little squeak.  I did turn the drum manually just in case the motor would start if it was turned over a bit. No luck.

My plan was to see if it started consistently for a week or so and, if it did, I would go ahead and replace the front bearings and even the rollers and idler gear even though the last two are fine.  If the starting problem came up again, I figured I would buy a new machine.  I didn't want to buy a new motor or controls only to find that I still had the problem.

Then today, it failed to start again.  Like before, I pressed the button repeatedly but that didn't work this time. I got the buzzing sound.  I kept pressing it until a circuit breaker or overload device in the machine must have kicked in and the button had no effect for a while.  I removed the load I was going to dry and turned the drum by hand. Still no luck. I went back down about 15 minutes later and the button produced the buzz again but still no start.  With the holidays coming up and the fact that we will have company staying over for the weekend, this is a problem and none of the big box stores have machines in stock. Delivery would be too late.

Then my wife went downstairs later in the day and pressed the button with the load in it and it failed to start.  Then she removed the load (like I had done earlier) and this time it started up.  She put the load back in and it started again and dried the load.  So I have an intermittent problem.  I'm guessing it's not the motor because it would seem that, if it was, it would never start but, of course, that's possible.  Could it be a problem in the controls or even the start switch itself?  I did try to start it after changing all the settings but no luck.

If I can identify the problem without chasing it by buying parts until I find the problem, I'll fix the machine.  If I have to guess and just start buying controls or the motor to see if it works, I'll buy a new machine. But I love fixing things and and making them last and  this old machine has given me great value.  I wish all products worked so hard for so long.

More than likely your motor going bad.

But I recently had a dryer that started intermittently.

The door switch actuator broke and it was still just long enough that sometimes it activated the switch and sometimes it didn't.
