Hi trying to fix my Kitchenaid dishwasher the model is kdfe204ess1.  The problem is that the motor seems to stop washing after about 10 mins and just sit there like it thinks it's washing. I did get a 7-1 heating error code and the dishwasher is heating in the diagnostic but the motor still won't stay on. Any ideas where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Meter whether or not you still have voltage to the motor when it "stops washing."  If you poke your meter leads into the two outermost pins of the motor connector, you will be reading L1 and Neutral to the motor (should be 120VAC while washing).

You have made it heat in test mode... how long did you let it heat waiting for the motor to kick back in? The machine will sit and wait until the water is hot enough according to its sensor... The heater element itself should meter at 8-30 ohm's resistance.

If you don't own a meter, now is when you need one! It is time to separate whether the control is trying to energize a component that is broken or if the control is failing to send the proper voltages.

Hi thanks so much for your response I ohmed the heater from the board and it was within range. I may need to be more patient with the motor but I thought I heard the diverter turning unless it was the board clicking so I assumed the washer was trying to wash. I will see if I'm getting voltage to the motor next thanks for the response.
