Kenmore Trio Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

It seems the freezer, when in defrost mode, the water will just pool on the bottom of the freezer.  While searching on google it seems that others have complained about this happening.  We bought our refrigerator used, so we don't have a warranty on it.  But after a few weeks, when it goes in defrost mode there is no room for the water to go because of the ice build up and it will leak all over the floor.  So every couple weeks I have to chip away all the ice off the bottom of the freezer.  It was said that the hole that the water is to go down is too small and immediately freezes over so it just pools on the freezer floor.   Kenmore model 795.785
