Inline Duct Fan Suction Question

Most Microwaves installed above a range lack good exhaust fan suction. My question is, would adding an inline duct fan wired to turn on with the microwave fan increase the cfm and improve the suction. Has anyone done this or have the knowledge to know if this would work.
