Freezer at about 18 F should be 0-5 F for fast ice making. Need Help

My GE refrigerator freezer is not getting cold enough. I have measured the temp many times as not to get an an-nominally. It ranges from 14 - 18 F. This isn't good enough to push out many ice cubes. I think the defrost is working ok, and have read replacing the the thermistor in the freezer will help. Problem is I can't find it on the parts diagram or in the freezer itself. Can someone make suggestions for this or other parts to replace and/or where and the part number of the thermistor sensor.

Bimetal is NLA for your model. This is only if your havingy a defrost issue. You will need to remove evaporator cover n check frost pattern on coil.

Part number: Wr55x10025     CHECK ALL the thermistors in the unit to be sure you don't have any of the "round-nosed" rubber coated style, if so replace them.

 This is the updated, "flat-nosed" thermistor for GE fridges... $7.66.

 This is the "old standby" universal type defrost thermostat $6.44.Works great in just about any unit.

This one doesn't use thermistors. It uses a thermostat WR09X10097 which is also nla.

Does it have a defrost issue (running constantly, evaporator encased in frost)?

It's likely running because it can't get to proper temperature due to evaporator clogged up with frost impeding air flow. 

Need to fix defrost system by sounds of it. 

There is a timer, a heater and a bi-metal thermostat. Any one of them might have failed.

Before you order any parts, you will want to get your eyes on the evaporator. Remove everything from the freezer including drawers and then remove the panel on the back wall of the freezer. If the panel is covered in frost then you more then likely have a defrost problem. If no excessive frost then the evaporator should have an even frost pattern on all its coils.
