GE Refer mod PFSS6PKWBSS water dispenser line

Recommended Posts

There is no water coming out of the door. Valves test good. The dispenser line has a clog. I need to know how the 5/16" water line runs inside the fridge. From the dispenser valve to the top of the fridge. Should I be able to pull the line out to replace it? I tried running some fish tape through the line and it stops about 1/2 way from either direction. How do I get the water line out? Thank you for your time.

P.S. service manual available?

Maybe frozen or plugged, bad water filter

Water filter is new. I have isolated the problem to the water line between the dispenser valve and top of the fridge before it enters the door. It is clogged. Did you read the post?

Water line cannot be removed it if foamed in place. You have to replace the door. Ge refrigerators are known to not put enough insulation in the doors and the water line freezes. I would turn the freezer temp up to 4 degrees for a couple of days and see if the line starts to work. Not seeing a water line heater that says it works with your model.

To determine if the water supply tube is frozen, disconnect the tube at the bottom of the door and blow air through it. If air does not pass through, this indicates that the water supply tube is frozen. If the water supply tube is frozen, thaw it out. In addition, ensure that the freezer is kept at the proper temperature. The freezer temperature should be kept from 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit. If the freezer is too cold, the water line may freeze.

Thanks for your reply johntech. That was the exact answer I needed.

The dispenser line comes in from the top of the door as it has a bottom drawer freezer. The water line never passes though the freezer section as both doors are for refrigerated section only. There is a quick connect coupling at the top of the door, which I disconnected and was able to blow in the line going in the door. It was clear.

So, i tried the fish tape again from the bottom and the top again and whatever the clog was, dislodged, the line cleared and dispenser was working as normal again. Problem fixed!:rocker:

Thanks to all those who contributed their time.:thanks:

Side note: I filed and sanded smooth the end of the metal fish tape so it would not cut the water line from the inside.:geek:

May be frozen. Have you tried forcing hot water through it?

Have you tried something like this?

It's really worth buying one of these if you have a GE refrigerator. They Work great and unclog line in less than one minute.

No need to promote sales of an item that is not needed.:boid: The water line is not near the freezer section. Seems there are some people that do not read posts or do not have good reading comprehension.

We escorted SlickHick off the campus.

You guys gave him excellent (FREE) help and he pulled attitude. No excuse for that.

We'll leave the post here, both because it contains good info, but also as an example of how NOT to treat professional techs who take the time to help Grasshoppers.

Thanks, everyone!
