GE Triton Dishwasher

Model number GSD5650D02CC.   The dishwasher is not pumping out most of the water.  The electric pump is working.  The piston valve is in good shape.  There is no debris in the tub leading to the pump.  Should the wash motor come on during the pump out stage?  It does not.  It does however work during the wash cycle.  If you hit the cancel drain button the electric pump comes on but only gets rid of about one third the water in the time allowed.  Should the wash motor assist the pump?

Should the wash motor run during pump out?

No, the drain pump alone is responsible for draining the water. There is usually and in-line check valve in the drain hose. Make sure that's clear. Also, watch the discharge stream while the dishwasher is draining. If it's anemic then there's gotta be gookus in the drain line.
