Whirlpool nu50t61-403 - Loud whooshing sound

Recommended Posts

I heard a loud whooshing sound and found it was coming from our water heater. Noticed yellow flame between valve (it's a Honeywell) and burner area. I've shut it down and turned of the gas supply. It's four years old and was working fine before this. What could the problem be?

We are having the same sound!Don't know why.

We also had the yellow flame. It turned out to be a torn burner mesh. The burner assembly was replaced - part was still under warranty. Otherwise, it would have been $450 at Sears partsdirect.

You might have yours checked by a water heater pro.
