HTDP120EDOWW Hotpoint Electric Dryer Timer repeated failures

My Hotpoint Electric Dryer, Model # HTDP120EDOWW stopped working so I replaced the timer and it started right up but after one load it failed again.  I got another timer and the same thing happened. I opened up the timer and saw some pitting on the heater points so I replaced the heating element.  New timer, same thing after one load.  I had already checked voltage input, thermal fuses and high temp cutoff for continuity.  Of course the dryer wouldn't have started if the fuses were blown, even with a new timer.  Any input would be so welcome.  Sincerely, Chris Reed, christopherlee@hawaiiantel.net

It is failing to START or is it failing to HEAT?

Whichever it is, there a several possible causes other than the timer

Did you inspect the timer knob for cracks?

To Nathan C. Thank you for your response.  It failed to START.  The several loads that went through were dried and the dryer was warm, then it would not start again.  Maybe I need to replace the thermostat if it was overheating.  Any input, Thanks, Chris Reed

In this case, it sounds motor related- the motor has a thermal overload built into it. If it needs a period to cool down before starting again, the motor would be the number one suspect... and once a motor gets to that point you will probably have to replace it.

Looks like they have revised the motor and an Emerson style will replace the old square one...

Aloha Nathan C, That was fast!  Thanks for the input and I'll do what I can now.  Sincerely, Chris Reed
