KitchenAid KUDE70FXSS5 spent the night running (all night).

When I came downstairs, I saw that it barfed up my little dishwasher soap pod (you can tell it was heated up, but didn't break apart) and the dishes looked they were rinsed, but they were clearly not cleaned.

Any ideas? Hoping it's something silly.

Silly things-wise, check if there's a spoon under the float switch (front right plastic dome in tub). Also, start a cycle and see what the unit does (or doesn't) do. It should fill, spray, heat, drain and (sometimes) run a vent fan.

If not, try pulling error codes. Pick any 3 cycle buttons, and press them in order 3x, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3. All the lights should come on. You may have to close and then open the door to get it to advance between steps, or press the start button.

The unit stores 4 error codes, and displays them in the first few steps of the test cycle, each repeating 3 times, blinked out through the status light or shown on the display (for units with a display). They're in the format F#E# (Eg. F6E4), with a short pause between the F# and the E#, and a long pause between one code and the next, but again, each code is repeated 3 times unless you skip to the next one with the start button.

After any error codes are blinked out, it'll run a quick-ish test cycle, (again, check to see if the unit fills, sprays, heats and drains) and you can advance past most steps by pressing the start button. At the end, it'll blink out any errors it experienced during the test cycle.
