Hello,

I have a Maytag top load washer and replaced the gear box for the bearings going out, About 2 months after I replaced it, it went bad again. I am waiting for the part to come and noticed the the stainless steel/ plastic drum has water inside the top ring. I can hear it sloshing around, but it will not drain out no matter how I turn it.Is it possible that this caused the drum to be out of balance and put extra stress on the bearing/gear case? I'm thinking about drilling a hole to drain the water out and sealing it up with caulk.

Any ideas out there?

They put anti freeze inside for balancing. If you drain it out it Will spin unbalanced and you will need to replace the inner tub.
