Sub-Zero #642/0 Ice-berg

Hi All,

It's been a long time since I ask a question, but I'm back to a problem which is a couple years old.  I have searched the forums, but can't find anything related specifically to my Sub-Zero #642/0 Ice-Maker.  With summer here I would love to finally resolve this problem.

We end-up with a large clump of ice in the bottom of the ice bin after the ice-maker has produced ice for a while.  It seems to be a little bit at a time, but quickly turns into a large ice-berg of ice which is can't be used.  Not sure if it's over-filling, or the ice isn't completely freezing before being dumped, or something else.  I'm somewhat handy, but not in electronics diagnosis.  Where do I start? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Len

Take a good look at the ice mold liner. It may be corrode and leaking through as it freezes.

Do the cubes come out all connected to each other? Or are they individual? Do the cubes seem smaller that normal.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I've been at my adult daughter's home to help out during her illness and also working on her dishwasher and disposal.

I haven't had  a chance to turn the ice-maker back on and observe but will try to do so and observe.  Once done I'll report back, though it may be a while with all that's going on.

Thanks again.

Said a prayer for your daughter...hopefully nothing serious.

John,

Thanks so much.  It has been very serious since last October.  Without going into details, we believe she is making a recovery.  I've been spending a couple days a week at her home when her husband travels for work so she wouldn't be alone.  Taking care of three grandkids under the age of eight, including driving one to school (not out for the summer, cooking, cleaning, laundry, kids baths, bedtime stories and prayer, etc., sends me home exhausted at my age.  But I'm very grateful to God for how He has worked in my daughter's  life, as well as her husband's, mine and my wife's.  It's ironic how sometimes it takes a possible tragedy to help us to express just what those close to us mean to us.

Thank-you again for your concern. We do appreciate your help, and even more your prayers.
