WDF520PADM0 Whirlpool dishwasher will start to fill with water and then stop. I cannot figure this out and it is driving me crazy. History on it is: the usual start light wouldn't come on and it was stuck in drain mode (I think). I put it in diagnostics mode, it ran through everything but never gave an error code. I replaced the control board and it started up like it used to, light was back on. Now on start up it starts to fill with water then stops filling, the heating element seems to come on and then it just seems to stay in that mode without completely filling with water, the arms don't seem to get enough water to rotate or even rinse down the soap that I put in earlier. I thought it was the inlet valve or water supply, both are fine. What's happening is that the water valve is getting 115V and filling and then it drops to 24V and cuts off the water. Any suggestions? Circulation pump?

I also put the meter on the float switch which seems to be working properly.

There's the float a lever and the switch.

I'd ensure all are working.

Does float move freely up and down?

Is lever in place not broken and actuating switch properly.

You said you tested the switch.

I pulled the float switch, tested for continuity when on/off and also tested it in place and it worked properly. I thought at first it was the water valve because it would start to fill and then stop but it actually stops because of a loss of power. Another weird thing is that before I replaced the control board it was filling just fine. I checked the connections at the board and they seem okay. What sends power to the water valve? I can't find a wiring diagram anywhere online.

The water valve lets water in briefly but the circulation pump doesn't kick in and then it just stays in that stage of the cycle. Now I'm wondering if it is filling properly and it is a fault with the circulation pump.

I've chanced out a lot of sumps on these due to a bad circulation pump. Test the voltage to the pump after water valve shuts off. Make sure that you check voltage with the wires still connected to the pump & board. Sometimes it takes a few seconds for the board to send voltage to the pump so leave your meter connected for a couple of minutes to make sure.

Fill time is 1:15 does it fill that long?

power to valve can be checked at P4-1 and P4-2 on main board.

It fills for 1 min 10 sec and then is idle.

That sounds right. Not fill valve issue.

Refer to Lighthouse's post above.

My original repair was correct, the control board had failed. When I traced the power loss at the circulation pump I realized I had plugged in a connector to the wrong slot, I mistook turquoise wires for blue. I blame poor eyesight!
