I am working on a 106.74206402 Kenmore Elite Top Freezer frig in which the damper is not frozen shut, but will not open and frig is running at 50 degrees. I cannot find the tech data sheet to put into diagnostic mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well you could stick your meter probes into the wire harness that services the damper motor, unplug fridge, wait a few minutes for compressor to equalize, then plug back in. At that point the board will usually energize the damper, so you will know if you're getting voltage to the damper. If you are and the thing stays shut, bad damper motor.

There is a good chance the duct assembly motor and power from control is operating properly but the linkage to the sliding duct door that engages with the duct motor is broken.

Remove the duct assembly and see if the sliding duct door will move by hand, if it is closed when you remove it and you can slide the duct open by hand then the linkage is broken.

I've never dealt with this model before but have worked on the side by sides that have a very similar duct assembly and the way the sliding part that shuts off the air flow works, if you open it by hand and plug it back in the motor will cycle and close the duct again but not open it back up because the back part of the slide breaks off so the cam can slide the duct shut but can't pull it back open.

If you find that this is the problem you can open the duct door about half way and reinstall it without hooking up the wires to it until you can get the new part to install, (with the duct only half open the refrig should keep decent temps without freezing everything until you can get the new part).
