Kenmore frontload 796.40311900 leaking

Kenmore 796.40311900. This washer occasionally leaks clean water from the bottom of the machine.

About two cups. started with the delicate cycle now it leaks on sturdy cotton.

I'm guessing 'Drin Pump' What do you fellas think?

Correct Detergent Dosage...

HE: (2) Tablespoons per wash (all load sizes)

HE 2X: (1) Tablespoon

HE 3X: (1) Teaspoon

Disregard Detergent Instructions.

Incorrect detergent amount or type...guaranteed to leak...among other symptoms.

I'll check with the wife on that one.

I'm running it now on 'Heavy Duty' cycle. Back access panel & top panel off.

Between 20 & 30 min. into the cycle a small puddle has formed near the front and center

Could be a hole/tear in either the Door Gasket...or the Tub-to-Pump Bellows/Hose.

May need to watch for leaks from behind washer.

You may also want to take the top off and observe any leaks coming down from the top part of the washer. There are valves and hoses above that can tend to spring leaks also

I told the wife to about the amount of HE detergent to use.

She also indicated it gave her an error code "bE" 'control error' Manual says to unplug and wait 30 sec. to clear.

This seems to work.

I did have the top off and did not notice any water. Everything looks brand new.

Next, I may take off the front door and panel when I get a chance.

Would a leaking drain pump cause the error code Or are they too separate issues????

I would say two different problems. Most common leak issues I have found on LG washers are either the water inlet valves or the tub to pump bellows. 

 

Remember water flows down and follows the path of least resistance. Use a bright flashlight and look for the drips. Follow the drips up to the leak.

I don't see a mention of a "BE" error code anywhere. May it be a "DE" that it gives? If so that stands for door lock error and can actually be caused by a failing drain pump winding. If the drain pump is 5 or more years old it's good insurance to replace as they fail on a regular basis. I've also seen many LG built products (like yours) develop pin hole leaks near the pump on the pump to discharge hose.

Any holes in the door boot, down at the bottom, I have seen them leak and run back to the thermistor and cause a te error code which can be mistaken for others letters due to the way the letters look in the display

Typically...a failed Ball Sensor...due to a leaking Water Valve (usually the Hot Water Valve).

A Serial Number will help determine if your washer even has a Ball Sensor.

Most likely it does not.

Kenmore/LG washers were first introduced about 2010-2011.

Yes, It could be a "tE" error code.

The trouble shooting guide says 'Control Error'

So in an effort to nail this leak / error code thing down, rite now it only happens in 'Rinse' 'Heavy Duty + Auto soak' & 'Delicate' cycles

My plan for today is to run it until it leaks then take off front panel and investigate.

All those cycles use higher water levels, i bet there is a tear in the door boot, pull the flap back and look around
