KitchenAid dishwasher KDTM404EBL0 spray arm not moving

StephenMCE

Recommended Posts

My dishes in the lower rack are not being cleaned.  No dishes are blocking the sprayers.

I have found that the Dynamic Lower Spray Arm only appears to rotate when rinsing.  It definitely rotates during the Rinse Only cycle.  However, any time I put it in a wash cycle, I’ll open it up mid-cycle to find that the arm has not moved.  I’ve checked this during multiple points in the wash cycle.

Is there anything I can fix or is this a service call?

Thanks!

This one has a diverter motor which directs the spray to different spray arms during the cycles. There should be a tech sheet attached to the kick plate which should give you instructions for putting it into service mode and testing various components as well as retrieving error codes. Give that a shot and let us know what you find.

AccApp, this one is kind of unique, as the diverter motor not only turns the diverter disk to change water flow between upper and lower arms,  It also powers the lower spray arm rotation.

The only one that I have worked on like this was also a higher end KitchenAid and the diverter motor leaked water down the sprayarm drive pin shorting out the diverter motor and control board.

Kind of strange that it is working OK in the rinse cycle but not the main wash.

Stephen, do you have the techsheet that should be in a plastic pouch on the back of the kickplate?  If you do you need to pull the stored error codes and run it thru a diagnostic cycle to get an idea of what is and isn't working correctly.
