Hi- Just this past week my ice maker started overflowing with water. I unplugged it, cleaned it out and just watched it cycle and water from the valve turns off about a second or two too late. My freezer looks like an ice wonderland. New ice maker, valve or both? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like in this case you will a bad maker.  Contacts in it will be sticking, and you will have a burned smell on the front of the ice maker

Un install the the water inlet valve where it is connected to the back of the fridge cabinet. Unplug the 130 volt harnes connection from that valve and set it up so the water inlet valve will drain into a bowl of some sort. Usually you can fit it into the side if a 5 gallon bucket. Direct test the water valve with a test cord and give it its correct voltage input off and on and see if the valve stops the water flow exactly everytime you de energize it. If the water stops flowing right away then you know your problem will be the ice maker. If it the water still flows a little bit longer after it's de energized , then you will know you have a bad water inlet valve for the ice maker

Ok, just to follow up. After taking the ice maker out and cleaning it, it was clean to begin with, I let it sit and dry out. I also noticed that the black valve that feeds water into the ice bucket was leaning a little diagonally and water may have been missing the reservoir. I straightened it out, put everything together and crossed my fingers. No luck after a couple of hours, water was still overflowing and freezing. After cleaning up the ice, I put a towel on the shelf, turned off the ice maker and figured I'd deal with it in the a.m. Next morning turned it back on and monitored it and so far, 36 hrs later no problems! Not sure what I did or why it's working but if it ain't broke....thanks for the input though, I do appreciate it!
