Tappan 61 1144 Dishwasher fills but just hums

Its an old one....32 years old...noisy and ugly (kinda)....but truthfully, rock solid dependable for the last 21 years we have owned it.

Til yesterday.

Fills with water , and timer moves, but motor doesnt start. Just hums after the solenoid clunks.

Tried moving the fan on the motor and it moves freely. i am assuming its a bad motor (though any advice to the contrary would be appreciated).....

Problem is I cant find a motor/pump assembly.....was hoping to find the original part numbers and then cross reference from there maybe.

In case it helps, my washer looks very similar to the one posted in this video.

I am hoping I can find a motor/pump assembly.....started looking at new units and aside from the sticker shock, tough to know what will last like this one has.

Thanks for the help!

motor capacitor is prob bad after all these years

That looks like a basic GE built unit in the video. You can still buy a complete pump/motor kit, WD26X10013. Comes with all kinds of hoses and clamps to adapt it to most any older GE built dishwasher. Nothing made today is going to last you 32 years.

The last one I put in had a motor made in Vietnam.

Models that are as old as this one , will tend to use much more electricity and water in the short run than the current dishwashers out today but if it makes you happy and you like it that much then that is all that counts. Good luck with the replacement motor kit should you decide to replace it.  As AccApp had mentioned there is a kit which not only comes with a substituted motor, it also comes with a new pump.   The old dishwashers like this one you are having problems with , tend to have pump assemblies that will leak .  If you like this dishwasher that much , then replacing the motor and pump kit as AccApp had mentioned is the better root to go.  Good luck
