LG RANGE LRG3081st burners won't stay on

Recommended Posts

When I turn the burners down after lighting the flame dies out before I get to the lo setting. All 5 burners do this.

The range wasn't doing this a week ago. It performed well for Christmas dinner.

Would adjusting the simmer on the burners fix this or since it used to work is it something more involved.

When the range was delivered/installed...was the Low Flame Adjustment checked/done?

See Installation/Owners Manual for instructions...

No clue if it was done- we bought the house last month and the appliances were there brand new. I will try it- now I have an excuse to buy another screwdriver

Adjusting the low flame has done nothing. The burners all die when turned down below high. Some at setting 4 others at 2

Any other gas issues in the house? Sounds like your main regulator or the regulator on the range has failed.

Is it fixed or flex gas pipe ?

check for kinked  hose

Gas line to back of range appears normal, it looks like a flex line. The oven comes to temperature Normally in bake and broil mode. My gas fireplace and furnace are functioning normally. I don't have gas hot water.

Do the flames look "small" in broil?

I've seen a bunch of weird stuff happen in new construction. Plastic plugs left in supply pipes which allow full flow for a short while then plug up completely or severely restrict gas flow.

Feeling dangerous? Shut off the gas, remove the flex line from the range and turn the gas back on. You'll know in 2-3 seconds if you have full flow. Be ready to shut the gas off immediately and try not to spark. Not for the faint of heart.

Good point.

I had a range with gas supply issues...caused by a faulty *safety*.

Most new flex gas lines...have one these in the package.

It's purpose...is to shut off gas flow automatically...should the flex line fail/break...can be caused by an incompetent/dangerous fool trying pull the range out...like some flooring guys have done in the past...without turning off gas supply and disconnecting gas line. Takes a lot of effort to break one of those flex lines...but they somehow still manage to do it.

Hmm yeah maybe it's time to call out a pro. I've actually done some gas piping before that passed inspection to my outdoor NG grill before but this time nah.

I almost was killed by a malfunctioning gas oven once so I don't want to mess around with it too much. (Bad oven igniter finally lit after 15 minutes of gas being on- I got a strange feeling that I should get away from the oven and BOOM a huge blue fireball blew off the door the second I got out of the way) I'm paranoid now.

Yes they look smaller than I remember. I now think it is something to do with gas supply after all. 4 of 5 burners now stay lit on low but my Superboil burner doesn't.

Time to get the gas guy out , sounds like you have a regulator issue

interesting story I had a customer with flame issues ,that only happened since I replaced the glass top

went to product which was lpg bottle gas and they had a reg fitted at cooktop.  Ok no that shouldn’t be there that’s for natural gas , get gas guy to remove

he gets that removed and then calls that he still has issues on all the burners going out

I explain that the issue must be with the reg at the bottle

we have a few near heated discussions ,

he gets the bottle reg replaced and what do you know it’s all fixed

If no other gas issues in the house I’d point the finger at the ranges regulator or supply line.
