Hello, i have a 10 yr old ge profile french door refrigerator PFRS5NBWA with the inverter compressor. recently the freezer temperature has been rising from 0 to sometimes 50 degrees before compressor kicks in, then fridge and freezer cool of to 37/0 as designed, holds for a while then starts to heat up again. I have done many diagnostics tests, measured input voltages to the inverter, resistance at the compressor, checked frost pattern on evaporator coil, checked defrost heater, damper operation, thermistor resistances at board connector J1 and i am now stumped. Suspecting inverter board but dont want to buy one and find out that isnt the issue. Should note that the 100% runtime test did not work. Any help would be appreciated, thank you

Can’t find that model number.

Thermistors generally first suspect.

How did you test them?

I tested the resistance on connector on motherrboard. I didn't do the glass of ice water method. Compressor kicked in again last night and I measured about 120 ac volts across Compressor pins while it was running and it cooled the fridge and freezer off but temperature was back up this morning to mid 30's in the freezer

I would just change all the thermistors, including the one(s) on the evaporator(s), cheap enough.

Ok I will try that. One thing I didn't mention was that I unplugged the fridge yesterday and then plugged back in. After a few seconds you could hear the compressor start up for a couple seconds, then it shut off. Unplugged and plugged back in about 15 minutes later and the compressor started and continued to run as normal.

HI Brian,  What you need to do is first verify the correct  model # of the fridge or any appliance before you post a question for it on this site. The model # that you  posted is not correct  The next thing I would suggest is that you look for the video on this site for properly checking a ge refrigerator with an inverter compressor.  Some of this information for your diagnosis is not correct. The video on checking  a ge inverter compressor in a refrigerator tells you exactly where to test for your 120 Volt supply . There is also a great webinar video on how to approach your service calls on this site also.  Great stuff !  It gives you some input pertaining to model #'s      good luck

Model number is PFRS5NBWSS. I went through the video diagnostics you have on your site. Checked for the 4-6 v dc voltage to the inverter and it is good. checked the 120 v ac to the inverter and it is ok as well. I also tested the output voltage of the inverter to the 3 compressor pins while the compressor was running and there I also measured approx. 120v ac between each pair of pins on the inverter output/compressor input

ok spoke to ge and apparently the model number is actually PFSS5NFWSS, not sure why the sticker on the inside of the fridge and on the back says something different. Sorry for any confusion
