Kenmore Elite DW 665.16262400 flame-out

Walked in the door to find my dishwasher spewing smoke; unlatching the door didn't shut it off, so I killed power at the breaker. I removed enough screws to fold the control panel out, and found the expected circuit-board meltdown.

Here's the question: Some of the wires in the wiring harness that feeds said circuit board are also melted. My guess is that it would be easy and cost-effective to put in a new control board, but with those wires melted, the job becomes much bigger and more expensive. Worth doing, or buy new? DW is ten years old, and we put a new pump in  it a couple years ago; it's been running great.

Also not able to locate replacement part; only seeing listings for paint and a few other small parts, so I have no idea the cost.

Depends on how much of the wire harness is burnt. If you can take some pics and post them to a photo site like Flickr or something and then post the links here we could take a look and get and do a better damage assessment.

All three connectors are charcoal, and I'd lose at least an inch off each set, trying to rewire new connectors. They don't sell a replacement wiring harness, so I'd have to try to find the right connectors and booby it together. The circuit board is around $125 (couldn't find it on the guru's link, much to my dismay), and I'm thinking it's time to just buy a new DW.

Lost cause. Just buy a new Bosch and enjoy life. Some battles aren’t worth fighting. Live to fight another day.

Yep. Just glad it didn't burn the house down.
