I have a Maytag model MAV3855AWW.  The fill will not stop overflowing the tub.

Posted

Suspects:

clogged pressure tube (take it off from pressure switch and blew through it)

bad pressure switch (can test for continuity when blowing into switch)

bad water inlet valve (likely failed mechanically can’t really be tested)

does the water stop when you push the timer knob in ?

You can check that water valve by pulling the appliance cord from the power source when it is still filling.  If the valve continues to run you know it has an issue.

Tell us exactly what you had done in order to stop the flow of water going into the tub??    That will tell us where to begin. As 16345ed had mentioned. It will most likely be one of the three components he mentioned.

I have seen a lot of these where the tub stops too quickly and jerks violently.... so much so the pressure switch hose pops off the nipple. Look for snubber ring wear and worn tub springs.
