OK, gang, I think we can finally put this project to rest! The part functions like a nipple on galvanized or plastic, but it’s called a barb. Ace didn’t have plastic in my size, so I used brass. Hope the pics help. Thanks again everyone!

Like the Scarecrow and the Tin Man, the Force was always with you revrich. Probably a previous owner or handyman repaired that line with a barb.

I like to support Ace whenever I can. It seems they try harder and it's nice to have somewhere else to go besides the 2 big box stores. 

Your picture you uploaded bypassed the site completely and went directly to my mind's eye. Perhaps if you have time, you can try and send your picture to the site again for the benefit of others in a similar situation.
