Samsung front load washer overfill then E1 error

Recommended Posts

Hooked up a Samsung VRT front load washer for testing, then went on to do other things. Came back to an E1 error. Unplugged the machine and opened the door, only to be met with a tidal wave. Cleaned out the penny trap, the pump, and the discharge hoses (a lot of fine powder inside, possibly sand). Poured in a bucket of water and ran the first few seconds of the spin cycle to verify the pump works. Reassembled and tested again. It did the normal sensing thing, then filled past the halfway point on the window (with no clothes inside), agitated/turned for 2-3- minutes, then E1 again. Blew through the pressure tube (towards the tub) and replaced the pressure switch (used unit, condition unknown). Same thing again; overfilled, agitated, and threw E1. Online research indicates E1 means excessive current draw on the drive motor, which could be simply from dragging the paddles through that much extra water. So, what is the next step?

Is the water valve stuck open?

Model is WF209ANW/XAA. Water valve is not stuck. It sat all night and did not fill.

Check pressure tube for a hole

inspect pressure switch wiring

Thank you. Yes, there was a rubbed place in the middle of the pressure tube. I had cut off both ends and reclamped them, so I was sure there was no leak, but I don't think I ever would have checked the middle. Only been a repairman for 4 years. Guess I haven't seen it all, yet.
