or rather not sensing properly, so it would seem.
2002 machine.  Has been "finishing" the cycle with items more than damp, less than soaked.
Like the sensor is failing.
The vent pipe is cleaned annually.

Are you sure there is any heat?

Have you tried time dry setting?

Like 16345ed has asked , is there heat at all , any condensation in the dryer while it’s cycling?  What cycle setting are you on ? Is it a sensor or timed cycle setting or is it happening in both cycles.  Dryer sheets can clog the sensor bars from reading the moisture level in the dryer cabinet if you are in a sensor cycle. Clean off the sensor bars with alcohol solvent.    Also if the dryer is leaning back to much you may need to have it leaning forward a little more to have the clothing more evenly tumbling towards the front of the dryer So the clothing will hit the sensor bars slightly better than they may be. You can also run a sensor bar test with the tech sheet located behind the lower kick panel of the dryer.  It’s possible you are experiencing a set of gas valve coils at this point that are slowing going weak on you it’s a common issue with gas dryers.  There are some really good experienced techs on this site do the sooner your able to get back to them on their response, the quicker it will be for you to get an idea on what your possible fix could be.  Good luck ok

You answered : there is any heat ? Did you mean to say there is no heat ? And yes the sensor bars are on the lint intake grill inside the cabinet.

cleaned the sensors and vacuumed out the lint cage as best I can.  Need to get a longer piece of flexible PVC hose to get into the tunnel from the cage to the rear exhaust.

It seems to be better now.

Heat was never the issue, just a question of getting things dry enough.  There was always heat.

Definitely level.  I'll do some research on the gas coils.  Thanks.
