Kitchenaid KSRL25FT5500 Side x Side Refrigerator need help

Hello,

As per the title, we have a Kitchenaid KSRL25FT5500 side x side refrigerator/freezer.

Lately the freezer side is very slowly getting warmer.  At first we noticed ice cream in the middle

was not hard.  This AM I see that a small platic tub of ice (my own mold for a large travel mug)

is not completely frozen.   A week ago I found a large patch of ice on the lower part of the rear

wall about 1" thick and the size of a frisbee, maybe 8 inches.  It fell right off when I pried it with

a spatula and the wall has since been okay but the freezer seems to be struggling.

What can I do to get it back to normal?

Thank you

Sounds like defrost system failure.

Three suspects defrost control

defrost thermostat

defrost heater

Might also be clogged evaporator drain line. Gotta take evaporator cover off and see what’s going on.

Is the fan running?  Open door and listen  for it in the freezer when  the unit is funning ( fan at the back running)

Unplug,  Take off the back cover in the freezer and.  Check fan for  ohm reading.  Check for continuity  of the heater and  the bimetal(thermoatat). If they are good you likly have a control bad.

If non of this make sense call a pro and expect 2-400 or  other depnding on local rates and part Prices etc
