Pump will empty the water but clothes will not spin.  The motor does run during the spin cycle.

More info:. I was wrong.  Motor is not spinning when the spin light is indicated.  There is a sound like a motor, but it sounds like it is strained.

There is a little light on the motor control board, under the metal shield. s it flashing? If so how many times?

(Step 3 is just removing the front cover)

Ran a quick rinse and spin cycle just now.  When it hit the spin portion of the cycle, again, no spin.  Motor led is flashing six times.  Is that a locked rotor?  Now what?

The chart from Lighthouse (thanks) says that 6 flashes is "locked rotor.  Make sure system is free".  I can easily spin the motor and tub by hand.  Does that mean that the system is free?

Is the rotor built into the motor?  I don't see a listing on parts places for a separate rotor.

Well, praise the Lord.  I did a motor reset.  Things are back to normal and it just completed a wash cycle.  The motor LED is blinking once a second.  Very thankful to not have to replace the machine.

Reset procedure:  unplug for 1 minute; plug back in and lift the lid 6 times in 12 seconds (during the first 30 seconds of power).

It will get a little warm.

Last one today was a GE with a locked rotor error code. Cleared code and machine wouldn’t agitate or spin. Turned out to be loose connection on lid switch.

Just a heads up on this. ge`s are well lknown for the tub seals to rust causing warpage and letting water leak to bearing which causes rust and resistance.
