Kenmore #79094209310 Range not heating up

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

My mother's range has issues heating up.  When set to oven bake or convection bake it heats up extremely slowly, like one hour to get up to 250deg.  I was originally thinking the element was bad but the broiler does not come on, or is but at a very low temp,  either when set to broil.  Would this be a oven control board issue?  It seems like the buttons and display are working correctly, as in the convection fan turns on when set to convection oven, just not getting anything to speak of out of the elements.  Seems unusual to lose both elements at the same time.

Thoughts??

Thanks,

Evan

First step, verify 240 VAC at therminal block.

If so then check for 240 at both elements when they should be on. (Have to remove back panel)

BE CAREFUL THIS IS DANGEROUS TO TEST.

make sure you have 240 vac at the wall.

Also take a measurement of the voltage going to the broil & bake elements.

Thanks!  I'll be over there this weekend and will check there first.  If I have voltage at the outlet but not at the elements is there something else I could check while I'm in there?  Seems unlikely they'd both fail at once.

Appreciate the help!!!

Most modern ranges have what is called a DLB, or a double line break its puropse is to take L2 away from the elements it makes it safer to service etc, if this goes you can loose bake and broil.

That said some dont  try and turn on broil when on bake mode
