Kenmore 795.75552401 Fridge Condensate Leaking

Recommended Posts

I have condensate leaking from under my LG/Kenmore Elite French door fridge.  Any ideas on what’s causing this?  Unit was new in 2005.  Note: ice maker has been disconnected & drained for over a year.  I can’t tell if the coil is iced up because it’s enclosed on these models.  The unit maintains proper temps top & bottom, no problem & doesn’t seem to run excessively (a bit hard to tell since it’s very quiet).  The floor of the fridge and the floor of the (bottom) freezer under the basket are both dry, indicating the drain tubes are not clogged (?).  I’ve yet to pull the trim cover off the front underneath the freezer door & look underneath there.  Guess I’ll give it a try with my endoscope first.

Condensation forms on dispenser housing?

New door needed.

Insulation has a *gap* that did not cure correctly...causing exposure to warm surface (lacks insulation)...moisture/condensation occurs...water drips into dispenser tray.

Nope; the doors are all good, if one is left ajar, there will be heavy frost in the freezer or sweat covering everything in the fridge.  Question; where does the water go from the Auto Defroster when it’s running?  I notice there are two separate coils in the schematic, a large one with a fan behind it I’m guessing to be the main cooling element.  There is also a smaller coil with a tiny fan beside it and what appears to be a catch tray with that assembly (part of the defrost assembly?)  Might it be that is where my problem is?  As info: right now my interior temp is 74f, outside is 81f, but the humidity in here is 56% even with central air.

John63;
Where do I access this dispenser housing? I checked all access panels inside the fridge and freezer and there was no frost or sweat on any of them.  Also, the two main access panels on the back of unit are both dry. (I also double checked the water supply line to make sure it was disconnected & dry)
Thanks;
Jon
