Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer - Model WED6200SW1

Hi!  We have a Whirlpool Cabrio dryer, model number WED6200SW1.  The error code was F25. After replacing the thermistor, thermal fuse, and thermal cut off we noticed that the belt had snapped and replaced it. The dryer works now, however, it instantly gets hot and has an amber red light glowing that's visible from the hole at the top of the thermal drum (I think it’s called that?).  We currently do not have a thermal thermostat or, rather, one that we can use. Is it normal to see this light?  The kit we used had a thermostat and thermal cut off, but we only replaced the thermal cut off - should we have replaced both? After spending all day working on it, and two trips to the store, I believe we are in over our heads.... Any guidance you could provide wld be most appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

The red light that you are seeing is the heat element.

Yes they come in a kit for a reason. Normally the thermal fuse blows because the thermostat stuck & it got too hot. Another thing that can cause it to blow is the heat element is shorting out & staying on all the time.

Might be shorted. Does it cycle on & off? Do you have a volt/ohm meter? If you have an ohm meter you can disconnect the cord, disconnect the wires going to the heat element. Put 1 test lead on one of the terminals and the other one to the "thermal drum". Is there any kind of resistance besides 0 or OL? If so replace element. If not then check the other terminal for the same thing.

Thank you for your messsage. We do have a ohm reader and I’ll have my husband try this tomorrow.  Will provide feedback once he’s tested. Thanks again.
