In-door ice maker not harvesting ice, and ice dispenser auger motor also dead. Kitchenaid Refrigerator KRSF505EWH.

Model No.  KRSF505EWH
This is a side-by-side, in-door ice and water dispensing unit.

When I press the in-door pad for the ice dispenser, it actuates the chute door and the chute door opens every time; but the motor that drives the auger to dispense the ice does not turn on.  It used to work intermittently, but now I can't get it to work at all. When I press the in-door pad, the chute door opens.  If I re-press the pad, each time I do, I hear a click sound coming from inside the unit but the motor never turns on.

Separately, the ice maker itself has stopped harvesting ice too.  It stopped working and then started again after ~three weeks.  But then after another week or so it gave up the ghost and doesn't harvest ice anymore (there is ice in the maker/tray)

The ice maker problem came first, then the dispenser motor issue. Is it possible this these issues are related to one problem affecting both - like a faulty circuit board?

Check the wires at the hinge under the door! Just got back from a fridge with the wires split down there.

Agree with QPiiiD.

The wires at the bottom of the door have a hard plastic sleeve. The sleeve gets a kink and bend the wires at that point and they break.  Unplug the refrig,  remove the sleeve carefully and check for broken wires. Repair all broken wires, solder is best with shrink tubing. The remove as much of the hard sleeve as possible. Install a mesh style sleeve over the wires and reassemble. The mesh sleeve is flexible and let the wires move with out breaking.

If the bottom hinge wires are chafed/severed, could be cutting power to the I/M. Otherwise, there's a pretty decent Job Aid for this I/M:
