GE chest freezer FCM5DMCWH not freezing

got the replacement thermostat installed.  put a couple water bottles inside to make sure they froze, they did.   but the motor seems to be on all the time. is that normal for restarting a freezer than has been defrost and just getting back  down to temp ?

I even put it on the middle setting and the motor seems to run continuously.    of course it could be timing, that is happens to be on only when i go back there.     but i dont think that is the case.

thank you

I had taken the probe off the new t-stat and attached new t-stat to old probe (since it was stuck inside)   .. but last nite i decided to disconnect it and put the new probe back on the new t-stat like it came and give the defrosting a chance to see if it made a difference.

You likely ruined new thermostat doing this...

@16345Ed He did ruin the new t-stat and he knows that.

The last post was with another NEW replacement t-stat installed and now he thinks it may be running to much/long.

From a total defrost/warm state you need to give it a good 24 hours before you can really decide anything about it running too long.

Ok I see that now, been so many replacements I’m confused.

However sounds like Last one is a used replacement for 12 bucks, likely bad.

The new " used " $12 version has a 30 return window.   I will let it run for 24 hours and see what's up.  Also have a freezer thermometer on the way. Not sure if that will tell us anything.   ?

If after 24hours the used one  I purchased is bad I will return and get a new one.

I appreciate the feedback.  You guys have been very helpful.

Will update when I know more.

Hope you have a great day
