Greetings all,

This Whirlpool Duet front loader just stopped during the middle of a load the other night.

Control panel does not light up and is unresponsive, door was locked, washer was still full of water.

Verified power at the outlet, and removed the top cover to manually open the door latch.

Can anyone help with the next steps for diagnosis?

I did notice a slight "burnt electrical" smell, but I couldn't pinpoint what component it was coming from.

Thanks,

Dave

Possibly something stuck in drain pump.

That wouldn’t cut power to all of the controls, would it?

I’ve seen stranger things... it is worth a look.

It turned out to be the main control board - W11031829.

I was considering it was the main control board when it comes to power loss but as ed did mention , stranger things do happen.  How did you come to the conclusion that it was the main control board ??    Did you have a burning odor coming directly from the main control ,      Did you remove the housing of the main control and found a burn't area on the main control's board some where ?   There is an led indicator on the main control board that is normally lit up and blinks when powered up but then remains solidly lit after that and stays on. if the light was out or  the control was not sending 5 volts to the UI board , then that is a tell tale sign the main control is your problem ?

How did you determine that it was the main control board?

I'd like to know the answer as well.
