Whirlpool Duet Washer GHW9100LW - Loud during spin cycle

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have an 18 year old Whirlpool Duet washer GHW9100LW that has started making loud noises during the spin cycle. I took a short video so you can hear it:

https://youtu.be/b4qBIeLZ7fA

There is not really any excessive vibration like something out of balance. It has just gotten louder over time to the point where you can hear it in other rooms of the house!

Any ideas what might be going will be greatly appreciated ?

Thanks,

Steve

18 years you got your money’s worth at least.

Sounds like broken spider arm, it will get worse.  Not worth fixing.

Thank you! A follow-up question - What does the ultimate failure look like?

I.e. do I keep using it until it dies? Or is that a bad idea?

It could eventually leak would be probably the biggest concern.
