jenn air JMV8208BAS microwave there was a quiet crackling buzzing noise coming from the unit and when we opened the door the unit started to run as if it was trying to heat up food . i unplugged and replugged in the unit and at that point it was quiet . i went ahead and set the clock on the unit and tried a 30 second heat up of some water. after the 30 seconds the unit continued to run . i opened the door and the unit continued to run so i unplugged it. now when i plug it back in it just continuosly runs ,,,, even if i set the clock and hit the clear button. the unit is NOT heating food either.could this be something as simple as a bad diode or magnatron or am i looking at a bad control board of some sort, do you have a method of testing the control board, i do know how to check the diode. thank you paul

Sounds as though from your description that your main power control board is Bad . You may even have an additional issue with the high voltage side as well. Today’s microwave’s you are fortunate to not have any issues in the first 3-5 yrs with a new one. At this point if it’s not under warranty, then I would just replace it and put good money towards Good instead of good money towards bad. Microwaves are short money and short lived in today’s world . More often than not it is less expensive and less aggravating when you just replace the common models .
