My LG dryer is running hot - I think.  On "regular" the temperature in the dryer, checked with an IR temp thingy, is 165 degrees.

We typically dry on delicate which is 125-130.

First, I'm assuming this is too hot?

Second, what is the most likely part to test/replace.  I see multiple thermostats on the parts list.

What prompted your concern regarding temperature?

Wrinkled clothing?

Posted

Clothing too hot to comfortably handle when taking out.  Towels that are no longer as soft. Now matted.

Sorry, but my opinion, you have an issue with clogged vent duct

Thanks

Odd.

The last 6 minutes of any cycle...is cool-down mode. Primarily to prevent wrinkles.

Is anyone interrupting the cycle...checking to see if clothing has dried?

That would account for the too-hot-to-handle description.

Run an air only cycle. If it heats, the relay on the control board is stuck closed.

Couldn’t the element also be shorted?

Thank you for the suggestions!

Yes, I'm noticing the super hot clothing in the middle of a cycle. After the coolduwn its fine.

I'll check the vent. It's only about 2ft in the wall. Plus a 3ft section from the stacked dryer down to the connection point. A single 90 in the wall.

What is proper maximum temperature On a normal cycle?

Maybe I'm worried about nothing?  I have noticed some towels less fluffy.

Likely dryer is functioning normally.

Try cycle modifications...such as DRY LEVEL (reduce/add time)...and TEMP buttom (reduce heat setting).

Thanks.  Happy with the delicate dry cycle.  Does a good job.

Just sometimes forget...

So there is no guideline for proper temperature of a dryer?  Or is it so variable by manufacturer that there is no standard?

The owner manual usually lists the range of temperatures for a given cycle (Cycle Chart).

The temperatures are approximate.

Best measured at the exhaust...behind dryer...using a digital temperature meter.

The LG temperature thermistor (sensor on blower housing) does not have a history of failure...either by becoming out-of-spec or shorting out.
