Samsung French door refrigerator building ice.

I have attempted to repair a Samsung refrigerator that builds ice in the fresh food section around the evap motor even to the point that it stops the evap fan from running. Mind you , the evaporator is clear of ice and the drain is clear as well. Apparently there are myriads of Samsung refrigerators with this problem and it seems to be a factory defect. My opinion is that the capillary tube may not have been inserted far enough into the suction line and the preliminary discharge causes that area to build ice quicker that the defrost cycle can get rid of it. I have read several accounts on some Samsung forums about this without any real solutions. Many angry Samsung customers and apparently a class action suit is either active or will be forthcoming. Any ideas on the “real” problem or “real”solutions?

There is a service bulletin on this issue. You should call a professional technician that has access to Samsung technician bulletins. 

My guess would be that your evaporator cover is damaged allowing warm air in and /or your evaporator thermistor should be replaced and properly installed relocated according to previously mentioned bulletin.

The evaporator cover is sound. No cracks of any kind. The styrofoam is sound as well. I am a tech but not a Samsung factory one.

Replace evaporator thermistor and relocate it higher. Remove some mastic if needed. 

Use this kit to update drains and modify evaporator back panel and drain tray. Also ensure long type drain heater probe is installed. There is one in kit.

Also if FZ ice maker not being used be sure control is set to no ice. If not FZ will always be running extra cold trying to produce ice.
