Kenmore Elite refrigerator beeping 3 times over and over

I've read online that this could be a faulty door switch. The switch appears to cycle off and on the light, but it could be an intermittent issue.

I get 3 beeps followed by a grumble noise. This happens about every 3 seconds and the light on the display dims. The noise appears to be coming from a damper.

Does anyone know what is causing this issue? If someone could send me the service manual, that would be great.

Thank you

Yes to receive technical documents you must be a paid member. To subscribe you must be a professional technician.

If switch is working when you press it then maybe the door is not aligned properly activating the switch?

I'm an HVAC contractor and work on appliances every now and again. I'm not sure how long the vetting process takes. I kind of want to get it fixed asap since it is one of my relatives refrigerators. There used to be a monthly subscription, but I don't see it any longer. I think I used to pay $8.95 a month.

Well, if someone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. I can try submitting my documentation tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks

Like ED mentioned you may just need to focus on the door switch.  If the fridge thinks the Fresh food door is opened when its closed your damper will close to protect the freezer section from getting warmer. The door switch is what signals that.  When the door is closed and the light has definately gone out , out  the door switch is the signal for the damper to open when it is asking to be cooler in the fresh food section then closes when satisfied.  That could be why you are hearing the noise from the fresh food section damper in the top left part of the FF section.  Make sure its not the freezer door switch that is tripping the door open signal beeping that your hearing. The door switches are different so its not like you can swap them out if one in deed is acting up intermittently.  They can get moisture in the switches and then possibly act up intermittently with freezing and all in the freezer section.

Good test is put smart phone inside on video recording, close door, open door and watch video. Did light go out?

Do both compartments.

Thanks for the reply Ed. I didn't think about the video recording when I was there. I did try to close the door slowly and did notice the lights went out before the door fully shut. I tried to replicate the issue by holding the door open. I would get a single beep every few minutes and then the display panel would go off. I couldn't get it to replicate the 3 beep issue, however.
