Fresh food fridge area was not cooling properly, crisper drawer was freezing up.    Freezer was perfect.

Explored a bit and found that the upper evaporator fan was not blowing (WR60X10341).   Fan wouldn’t spin freely, sprayed with wd40 and plugged back in and kicked on as expected.    So I called a local parts store to order a new fan.   They said that part has been replaced by WR60X26866.   Installed new fan and it kicks on occasionally but will not stay on.

So after more research I run across ref03-18 and 05-15 which implies some need a software update to function correctly with the new fan.   This exact Fridge model is not listed but now I’m wondering if I’m missing a software update?

Any help is much appreciated with Easter approaching and about 30 family members heading this way for dinner.

Thanks

Eric

They don’t list any restrictions here, just that this fan requires WR98R465901 when installed. THAT number comes up as USE WR98R882802 when I look up WR98R465901.

Fridge serial is DA = 2/13?

does the software upgrade still apply?

It didn’t ask. I pulled this up strictly from the model number you provided.

I've run into the same issue.  Never worked on this before.  What is involved in installing Module WR98R465901?

The part kit comes with a module and cable to connect to the port on top of the fridge. It is simply plug and wait so you don't have to do anything. On the ge web site it lists this update for the model in question so just installing a fan will not fix the issue.

Takes about 30 minutes to download the update to the fridge.
