Maytag MAH4000AWW - Motor will not run.  Timeline:  over 4 weeks growling sound increased with motor running.  Inspection with belt off, motor turned freely.  Large pulley tightly attached. Turning large pulley the bearings felt very good, I have installed many bearings never in a washer.  New belt installed (1.5 inches shorter/smaller)changed sound somewhat but motor could not speed up to spin. Manually helping motor to accelerate somewhat successful.  electrical control panel all good.  While contemplating next step and watching the  motor makes dead stop.  Take off belt, same inspection results as before.

20 years old --- junk it?

Thank you !
