Originally I had a clogged drain and pan was frozen over. I took care of that... but I noticed it went into defrost when I was putting the panel back on in the freezer.  Now, the freezer was warm and the defrost thermostat was even room temp. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the thermostat cut the heater off when in defrost so not to keep heating? The black insulator for the cap tube had been melted as well.  So thinking the thermostat was bad I changed it and even then, when I advanced the timer, the heater came on. Plastic fan cover was hot and the back wall you could not touch. Again, this is with a new defrost tstat at room temp.. Any other reason that it would stay on during the full defrost cycle?
