I'm in Charlotte, NC, looking for a tech who can repair the water line inside the freezer door on a Monogram side by side refrigerator.  I made a mistake and followed a Youtube vid by leaving a hair dryer to thaw the water line.  It melted it!

So, I installed the water line heater kit, and that thawed the line, but the elbow for the water outlet melted and I could not salvage it.  I need a guru who has run across this problem to repair the elbow/hose.  GE foams the water line into the door, so my repair option is to purchase an entire door (if I could find one) to repair the water dispenser elbow.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Can u post a pic of the melted elbow you u are talking about? Need to see what exact elbow and how bad it is

I don't have a pic, it's the elbow that actually dispenses the water at the edge of the ice chute. IOW, it's the end of the water delivery tube.  The hair dryer melted it closed, and I cut it off leaving 1/4" to 3/8" standing "proud" of whatever that tube/elbow emerged from.

No model # listed for parts look up.

Almost all GE unit have a foamed water line at door. Non serviceable.

Sorry, Model #

ZFSB26DRF SS

I could repair it with a glue on elbow, or some other method of attaching an elbow.  The approx OD of what's left of the elbow is 1/4"

I'm sure someone out there has found a solution to repair this type of problem.

thanks!

So I have had to repair a fridge that had cracked the line right there....I used a coupler on the end of the elbow and then Ran a little more 1/4 line to the dispenser area...is there enough left on that you can put a 1/4 to 1/4 coupler on it? You can pike those up at Lowes for $5 and then you would need a few inches of 1/4 tubing..

@Mattwilly91, thanks for the follow up, what kind of 1/4 to 1/4 coupler?  I got a small piece of clear hose, but I need some way to "seal" it to what's left.  I tried w a small hose clamp, but it rubs against the dispenser chute.

The problem is sealing it up and clearing the ice chute.

thanks,

this is what I used. but it will be tight. that might be slightly thinner than a hose clamp like you used

OK,

great, I'll give that a try, and, just thinking it through, I could "clearance" the ice chute a bit and provide some extra room for this joint!  I'll give it a shot and will post back my results.

Thanks @Mattwilly91 !!
