Kenmore dryer multiple issues, model MG0454085

Have a Kenmore dryer, model # in subject line.  Approximately 10-15 years old. Timer will advance, but dryer DOES NOT cut off.  Drum will turn, blower will blow all day/night until someone opens the dryer door.  At EXACTLY the same time, there is now ZERO heat being produced.  IE, it's as if all the heating elements are completely missing.  I would suspect a bad heating element(s) if the non-stopping issue hadn't appeared at EXACTLY the same time as the zero heat issue.

Thoughts?

Could be a timer issue. What kind of diagnostics have you done?

MG0454085 doesn't come up as a valid model# on SearsPartsDirect. If it's Kenmore, look for a numerical model# starting with 3 digits, then a period, like 106.86294140

Ok. I’ve looked closer at the label. Model # is

110.66722690.

Thanks for the help!!

I would look into the no heat issue first, if the dryer quits heating for any reason and you are on the automatic cycle , the timer will not advance. Lots of the time when you fix the heat issue the timer will work again.

There are several things that can cause your dryer not to heat ,  check in this order,  power from house , thermal fuses on element housing , element , operating thermostat, timer, and lastly the motor.   The first three things are very common

The thermostats or element should be checked along with timer contacts. The door switch contacts can get stuck which would keep your unit on too

Had something like this years ago. Tech before me had been out and was completely bamboozled, as it wouldn't stop even when the door was opened, referred to me as one of those "oddball" electrical issues. Turned out to be a quarter shorting one side of the thermal fuse to the blower housing and bypassing everything that would stop the dryer. The people had developed a "workaround" by using one of those "wind-up" kitchen timers to let them know to check the dryer!
