Samsung refrigerator RF28K9070 not cooling

Recommended Posts

3 compartment triple cooling Samsung RF28K9070 was unplugged for a few weeks and now it's not cooling. Compressor is warm/hot, condenser fan is running, condenser is clean, checked evaporator in freezer compartment and it has a little moisture on it but it is not frosting over. Electronic front panel is working.

Over past 2 days temperature has displayed approximately room temperature except after one power cycle, the temperature of both fridge and freezer both slowly went down to set temperature over about 3 hours (so I thought it was working) but the compartments were still at room temperature. After a power cycle, the temperature display returned to approximately room temperature.

I've put it into demo mode and then turned demo mode off to make sure cooling was turned on. I've put it into diagnostic mode but there are no codes. I look at all 4 control/PSU boards and there are no fried components and only one solid red LED on the board with two large capacitors.

Although it's usually the last possible problem, one tech I talked to thought it might actually be low on gas.

Very closely look at the back wall for any signs of frost.  Are the fans running’s?

Compressor running, all fan running, condenser clean and no frost just sweating for 2 days. Sealed system issue, more than likely a lowside leak.  Time to tap the system to get pressures.
