Kenmore 110.45091404 with too much play in the drum

I installed new bearings and seal on a Kenmore 110.45091404 front load washer.  I have installed new bearings and seals before and these installed without any issues I could see.  However, when I put the washer back together and started running tests, when it hit the spin cycle it quickly started shaking violently.  It was as if I still had the old bearing installed.  I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out what is wrong.  I have taken the machine apart several times with the same test results. I can move the drum up about a 1/2” which seems like a lot to me. When installing the bearings in the past, my experience is there is almost no play or movement with the drum.

The new bearings and seal are all seated properly.

Any idea what could be wrong or something I can check?

Rick

It doesn’t sound like you had a bearing issue to begin with. Your problem is possibly that the spyder is cracked somewhere or one of the  3    (two bolt ) mounting points for the Spyder is busted off the inner drum

+1 for darren412 diagnosis.  Other possibility is wrong size bearing.  Need to pull apart to check spyder, if it is solid. Time to measure shaft and bearings.

Thanks darrin412 and Vance R. I will check out your suggestion in the morning.
