This dryer would start then 2 minutes after that it turns off. I checked airflow at vent and it was good, no lint in back of unit or inside of unit. Power is good at outlet. I then tried to enter the diagnostics mode to see any error codes and was not able to. I don't think that it's the motor or thermostats be because the display blinks like crazy also. I looked at schematic and it shows the thermo and motor are culprits. Do you all think it is the CBS as I do?

I'd check the inlet and outlet thermal limiters and connections, since the board is powered through them.

You can check J2-1 & j2-2 on the board to see if the power is stable while the board is blinking. If the power is stable while the board is blinking, I'd replace the board.

The limiters are opening to fast? Where is j2-1 and 2

Also are those limiters resetable?

Posted (edited)

It doesn't matter if they're resetable because the dryer still runs, so even the non-resetable one isn't blown. However, I believe one is auto reset and the other is one-time.

What you need to check is the connections at the thermostats, not the thermostats

The connections frequently get hot and charred and burn off because they were formed or crimped improperly at the factory.

J2-1 and J2-2 are on the board. One is red/black and the other is white.

thanks for your the help. I'm a new tech, and I usually see either no heat problems or bad elements. this one caused head scratching. so, when the dryer is operating am I getting the 120 at the board? I'll have to check those thermo connections.

In an electric dryer, the connections for any of the "thick" wires that power the heater  are suspect.

Have fun!

@Brian B I have a call coming up with that exact same complaint. Were you able to find out what the problem was? Thanks
