Dacor ERD485038R/LP; Thermal Safety Valve alternative?

Recommended Posts

  • Replaced broiler box after it was FILLED with dog food by thrill seeking mice.
  • I replaced the broiler box.
  • Had repair technician install a new ignitor
  • Ignitor heats and gas can be smelled during preheat or in broiler mode.
  • Verified proper AMP draw and voltage of ignitor.
  • Broiler will not light (occasionally it will flame very briefly).
  • The left (smaller) oven works.
  • The gas stove top burners work.
  • Current though is that it might be the Dual Thermal Valve. Part number 82429. Discontinued and unable to find one anywhere so far. Have talked to multiple local Control/Parts companies an they are also unable to return results. World-wide eBay and other search not returning results.

Any thoughts on how to evaluate the Thermal Valve to determine if this is likely the issue or if I'm chasing the wrong problem?

Any idea if a newer part number is a compatible replacement? - It is a SIEBE part. I would assume the same part could be used in other ranges.

Any other ideas of what might be the issue?

It seems completely crazy to throw out a high end range simply because of one component.

Many thanks for any help or insights!

Sounds like maybe the orifice is clogged. Probably not included with a new broiler assembly.
